Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is considered as one of the most sophisticated and versatile engineering degrees that has possibly the widest job scope available in the industry. EEE includes three major filed of areas -Electrical, Electronic and Communication; which in sum covers Energy and Power Sector, Electrical Machine Designing and Manufacturing, Cellular Communication, Satellite Communication, Optical Fibre, Artificial Intelligent, Semiconductors Devices and Nanotechnology, Programming & Outsourcing, and so many other industry relevant fields; the demand of which will never diminish. I, being the Head of EEE, have taken the responsibility to set the Department as an example for all. With the complete support and guidance from the Board & Management, we aim to go sky high within a very short period of time by the grace of Almighty. I see a dream, that is to make the department as one of the best in this area in terms of providing true industry based knowledge, outstanding research excellence and preparing students for real life world. Our courses are UGC approved and structured in such a way so that modules are enriched with up to date latest advancements in areas such as Renewable Energy, Smart Grid, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, microcontroller based linear and non-linear system, advanced electronics, advanced communication and satellite systems, smart transport and so on. We have introduced High Impact IoT Research Lab, funded by High-Tech Park, ICT Division as one of the 1st generations IoT laboratories in the world.

We have already taken initiatives to introduce number of research cells at different areas i.e. Smart City Planning, Sustainable Development, Energy Harvesting, Hybrid Renewables, Energy Management and Crowd Energy, Amateur Radio Service, Real Time Monitoring Interface, IoT and Big Data Research, Cloud and Storage, Intelligent & Green Building and Smart Home Management Systems with our experienced faculties and foreign advisory board. This in result will not only promote research and innovation among the students but also will take the research into commercialization. Innovation and Commercialization Center is dedicatedly working to achieve this goal. Department of EEE has a plan to set a milestone to engage each student into quality research together with making them involved in application based learning. We aim to send students to national and international conferences, project exhibitions and industrial training. Moreover, to develop self & independent learning and to make the students prepared for the industry, course and sessional have been structured with LO (learning Outcomes) and CO (Course Objectives) mapping in accordance with International Quality Research Cell (IQAC) guidelines.

Program Description

Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) under the School of Science & Engineering already established its name in both academia and industry for tutorial based education, well equipped laboratories and highly experienced faculty members. Apart from providing quality education, the department is giving utmost importance on providing cutting edge technology, next generation research facility and building strong network supports. High Impact IOT Research LAB

IoT or Internet of Things is the fundamental part of next generation advanced technological enhancements. Our State of Art IoT Lab will be the key for conducting sophisticated advanced research.

Innovation & Commercialization Center

In order to enhance the research activities of Faculty Members as well as students along with motivate and encourage them to be engaged in creative and innovative technical activities, the center is formed.

Credit Transfer to 10 Foreign Universities

The University has collaboration with Canadian and other international highly ranked Universities for credit transfer from EEE.

Student Mobility at Universiti Technologi PETRONAS(UTP)

After completing first year in the EEE department, the students can go for a semester to UTP paying the local(CUB) tuition fees.

Admission

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum GPA 2.50 each at SSC and HSC/Diploma ( If GPA is below 2.50 then minimum GPA 2.00 and total GPA 6.00 is required)
  • For students of O-Level & A-Level, One must complete at least 5 subjects in O-Level & at least 2 subjects in A-Level.Out of these 7 subjects s/he must obtain B Grade or GPA 4.00 in four subjects and rest 3 subjects Grade C or GPA 3.50.
  • For admission into engineering programs, Students must come from science background with the subject of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in HSC/A-Level or equivalent public examination.
  • The Candidates who have finished school in abroad have to submit verified/attested copies of previous academic documents from their institute/Forign Ministry & equivlence certificate from the Secondary & Higher Secondary Education Board, Dhaka.

High Impact IoT Research Lab

A Step Towards Next Generation Smart City Planning for Digital Bangladesh: Vision 2041

IoT or Internet of Things is the fundamental part of next generation advanced technological enhancements. The world is Advancing with immaculate speed towards high-tech cutting edge smart city concept which is the ultimate goal of next generation technology. IoT is the backbone of smart city, smart transport, next generation advanced robotics, biomedical and real time monitoring interface on different security level, education, corporate industries and so on. Our current Government has taken "Vision 2041" towards sustainable development and has been working earnestly to make the Digital Bangladesh a developed country within 2041. Smart city planning should be one of the mandatory key factors in successfully accomplishing the target. As a matter of fact, countries who are investing on IoT and Big Data based research in the recent years will have an added advantage to make themselves compatible with the next generation smart city concept and will be years ahead in progress than the other countries. It is high time for Bangladesh, where reputed and experienced researchers should come forward and conduct research on IoT based Smart technologies in various research areas like transport, smart home energy management with distributed renewables, crowd energy, advanced robotics, biomedical and so on. With a view to taking our country to the next high-tech level and making Bangladesh to be compatible with next generation smart city concept, an IoT research lab is indeed the time’s need. It is absolutely necessary in the University level to establish IoT laboratory where faculties with their expertise will conduct research as the Pi (Principal Investigators) & Co-Pi and the students will join as the member whereas industries are going to be attached for the commercialization of the research and innovation carried from the laboratory. Not only expert faculties and students will have access to the laboratory, an internal and external advisory board will be formed including foreign scientists and expertise as well. In addition, a mini robotics and a small scale hybrid renewable interface have been included in the Lab which will be implemented through IoT so that Artificial Intelligent based Robotics, smart home energy management, crowd energy and other next technical advancements can be experimented for commercialization, thus quality research can be ensured.

After completing first year in the EEE department, Canadian University of Bangladesh, under the MoU between Universiti Technologi PETRONAS, the number one 6* rated Private University in Malaysia in QS Asian Ranking, students can go to UTP for mobility program for one semester paying the same tuition fee of CUB. This flagship mobility exchange in UTP has been introduced for the 1st time in Bangladesh.
